7.03.25 Luke 11:29-36

Prepare

Colossians 3:2 says, "Set your minds on things above, not on things on the earth".

Help me God, to put my trust in you today.

Read – Luke 11:29-36

As the crowds increased, Jesus said, “This is a wicked generation. It asks for a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah. For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so also will the Son of Man be to this generation. The Queen of the South will rise at the judgment with the people of this generation and condemn them, for she came from the ends of the earth to listen to Solomon’s wisdom; and now something greater than Solomon is here. The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and now something greater than Jonah is here.

“No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light. Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy, your body also is full of darkness. See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness. Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be just as full of light as when a lamp shines its light on you.”

Reflect

Every time my 4 year old sees a shadow on the ground, she often remarks that it’s tall or makes her look funny. A while ago, I was walking along the road with her and it was already getting dark, so the street lights were lighting our way. Of course, though, they are spaced out, and so as we walked, our shadows appeared to move. My daughter kept saying “my shadow has disappeared again!” When the light was directly above us, we made no shadow.

Lord, help us to keep our eyes fixed on you, so that we will cast no shadow.

Become

If you did an MOT on your life, what would it look like? Please Lord highlight to us areas where we are walking in darkness, and help us to live more like Jesus did.

Do

As we continue our day, let our ears be open to where God is highlighting anything we need to change in our lives, even when things might seem impossible.

I can’t Lord, but you can.

Practice

What habits could we implement into our day to help us to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus? Perhaps we could pray before we look at our phone or the daily news. I know that I want to practice working through the uncomfortable with God and letting Him mould me to be more like Him.
