26.2.25 Luke 10:1-16

Prepare

Lord, I come before You today. Quiet my heart and mind so I can hear Your voice. Let me know Your will for my life. I am listening.

Read Luke 10: 1- 10

Jesus Sends Out the Seventy-Two

10 After this the Lord appointed seventy-two[a] others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. 2 He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. 3 Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. 4 Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road.

5 “When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ 6 If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you. 7 Stay there, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house.

8 “When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you. 9 Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ 10 But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into its streets and say,

Reflect

In Luke 10 v2 Jesus reminds us of the vast mission field. The world is full of people in need of God's love and truth, but there are few willing to step forward to labour for the Kingdom. This is not just a calling for the chosen few, it is an invitation for all who follow Christ. Are you willing to be sent out? Do you regularly pray for God to raise up others who will share the Gospel with boldness and compassion?

One day, I had the opportunity to pray for someone and I didn’t take it. When I walked away I cried as I felt so full of regret. This memory has inspired me to always take the opportunities when they arise, even if it feels uncomfortable or scary.

Trust God’s Provision

"Do not take a purse or bag or sandals, and do not greet anyone on the road." (Luke 10:4)

Jesus tells His disciples not to pack extra supplies. Why? He wants them to rely on God and trust that He will provide. This is a reminder that God is always working behind the scenes. You don’t have to figure everything out on your own God will give you what you need.

Where do you need to trust God more in your life? How can you practice depending on Him?

Share Peace and Kindness

"When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’" (Luke 10:5)

The disciples were sent to bring peace wherever they went. For you, this might mean being kind to someone who hasn’t been kind to you, choosing to forgive someone, or offering a smile to brighten someone’s day. Small acts of peace and kindness reflect God’s love.

What’s one small way you can bring peace or kindness to someone this week?

Father God, help us to be more like you, help us to step into all you have called us to, to have a good attitude to serving and trusting you will equip us with all we need. Amen

Practice

Write down what you think God is calling you to do and identify areas where you are distracted from His main calling for you.
