10.1.25 Luke 1:53-56
10 January
Prepare
Psalm 9:1 "I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart."
Take a moment to be still with a thankful heart.
Read – Luke 1:53-56
He has filled the hungry with good things
but has sent the rich away empty.
He has helped his servant Israel,
remembering to be merciful
to Abraham and his descendants forever,
just as he promised our ancestors.”
Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home.
Reflect
Mary’s song continues to celebrate God’s faithfulness and justice. She praises the Lord for His care for the needy and His fulfillment of promises made long ago. Imagine the joy and assurance Mary felt, knowing that God’s mercy spans generations and that His promises are always kept.
There is something about the fact that God doesn’t change that is mind blowing. He has always been faithful and will always be. We live in an ever changing world with ever changing people, everything changes. People come and go, but he remains. No person, institution, government, nobody can give you that kind of stability. Only God.
How can you, like Mary, rest in God’s faithfulness and respond with gratitude?
Be
Lord, we thank you for your faithfulness to fulfill your promises. Help us to trust in your provision and to recognize your mercy in our lives. May we rest in the assurance that you see and care for our needs.
Become
Jesus, shape us into people who share your heart for the hungry and the humble.
May our lives reflect your generosity and faithfulness, pointing others to your goodness. How can we be more solid, more stable, less pushed around by different views and cultural influences?
Do
May Mary’s words inspire us to trust in God’s provision and to care for those in need today.
Who needs your prayers today? Think of three people and pray for them?
Who needs your mercy, empathy and encouragement? Who could you bless today?
Practice:
Reflect on a time when God provided for you or someone you love. Thank Him for His faithfulness.
Consider how you can share "good things" with someone who is in need today—whether materially, emotionally, or spiritually.
Spend time meditating on God’s promises in Scripture and how they are being fulfilled in your life and the world.
Pray: Let Mary’s song guide your heart today as you trust in God’s faithfulness and seek to reflect His mercy to others.
