6.04.25 Luke 20:9-19
Prepare
One thing I have asked of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life; to behold the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple. We seek the Lord our God; with all our heart; with all our soul; with all our mind and with all our strength. Let’s seek him now.

Reflect
This parable is a bit like a Shakespearean Tragedy. We need to know the main characters before we carry on. The owner of the vineyard is God; the vineyard is Israel; the tenant farmers are the religious leaders; the servants of the owner are the prophets and the Son and Heir of the owner is Jesus himself. When the people listening to Jesus heard this story they would have known Isaiah 5:1-7 where the prophet calls Israel God’s vineyard and that he would lay it to waste if it produced worthless grapes (like bad Malbec for the Argentinians).
We learn that God expects fruit from his people. He wants the vine to flourish. We learn that God has great patience. How many prophets did God send to give repeated gracious messages? This should motivate us to live lives that are accountable to him.
We learn of Gods great love for us. He sends his beloved Son. What a motivation.
Be
Lord God, thank You for Your patience and love. Forgive us when we reject Your guidance or turn away from Your truth. Help us to receive Jesus, the cornerstone of our faith, and build our lives upon Him. May we be faithful stewards of all You have given us and bear good fruit in Your name. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Become
Let’s bear good fruit. Just as God desired good fruit from His vineyard, we should live with kindness, justice, and righteousness.
Let’s accept God’s care and guidance. Recognise His blessings and respond with gratitude and obedience.
Let’s repent and turn back. When we stray, we can humbly repent and allow God to prune and shape us.
Let’s stand for justice and righteousness. Like Jesus, we are called to care for the oppressed and live with integrity.
Let’s remain rooted in God. Stay connected to God through prayer, Scripture, and community, drawing strength to live out Gods will.
Do
Spend some time praying for someone that is on your heart and then apply one of the Let’s… prayers from today’s Become.
Practice
Today, pay attention to where God might be opening your eyes to live lives that are accountable to him.
