Prepare
Lord, in the silence of this in-between day, help me to wait with hope. Teach me to trust You, even when I don’t yet see what You are doing.
Luke 23:50-56
Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and upright man, 51 who had not consented to their decision and action. He came from the Judean town of Arimathea, and he himself was waiting for the kingdom of God. 52 Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body. 53 Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen cloth and placed it in a tomb cut in the rock, one in which no one had yet been laid. 54 It was Preparation Day, and the Sabbath was about to begin.
55 The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it. 56 Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.
Reflect
Holy Saturday is the space between grief and glory. Jesus has died. The disciples are scattered. Hope feels lost. But in the quiet, faithful acts of Joseph and the women, we see a different kind of courage—the kind that honours even when it hurts, that waits even when it doesn’t understand.
Joseph of Arimathea, risking reputation and position, steps forward to care for Jesus’ body. The women, who followed Jesus all the way to the cross, now follow Him to the tomb. And then… they rest.
There’s no miracle—yet. No light breaking through—yet. But obedience continues. Love continues. Waiting continues.
We all experience seasons like this—when things seem finished, when God feels silent, when nothing makes sense. Holy Saturday reminds us that waiting is part of the story too. And just because we don’t see resurrection yet doesn’t mean it isn’t coming.
Be
Jesus, teach me to be still. Help me find You in the waiting—in the quiet days when nothing seems to be happening, yet You are still at work.
Become
Form in me a faith that doesn’t demand immediate answers. Help me become someone who honours You in both the silence of Saturday and the joy of Sunday.
Do
Make space today to rest intentionally. Turn off distractions. Sit with the questions you carry, and give them to God without rushing to resolve them.
Reach out to someone who may be in a “Holy Saturday” season—a time of waiting, grief, or confusion. Let them know they’re not alone.
Recognize which areas of your life are in the in between, the now but not yet.
Focus prayer:
Father, we love and adore you.
We long to shape our lives closer to you.
May we focus on your grace in this season.
Help us to be humble and gentle.
Remain in us, as we remain in you.
As we pray: do what only you can do.
