4.03.25 Luke 11:4
Prepare
We join Jesus in his prayer so far “Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread.” Lord, feed us with your word as we reflect on it today.
Take a moment to prepare your heart to receive from God today.
Read – Luke 11:4
Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.
Reflect
As a parent of 2 children under the age of 5, part of my responsibility is to teach them when they have done something wrong, so that they don’t repeat the same mistakes again. If one of my daughters throws a toy at her sister and makes her cry, we tell her not to do it again, and remind her that throwing toys can hurt people. We also teach our children to say sorry to each other so that they can move on from whatever has happened and play together lovingly again.
In the same way, there are consequences to our actions. Romans 6:23-24 says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord". And we also need to say sorry to God, asking Him to forgive us, and restoring that relationship between us.
Be
Thank you God that through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, we are completely forgiven for our sins. Please help us to say sorry for where we have made wrong decisions that have hurt others, ourselves or you, God.
Become
Take some time to think about Jesus’ sacrifice for you. Why do you think he chose to die in your place?
Do
Think about any areas in your life where you might need to ask for God’s forgiveness. Perhaps you might also need to say sorry to someone else for something you have done. Write these things down if you find that helpful and as you pray for each thing, cross them off to remind you that Jesus has already dealt with them through his death and resurrection on the cross.
Practice
When you catch yourself being tempted to do something that you know is wrong, ask God, just as Jesus taught us, “lead us not into temptation.”
